Our background

One Earth One World is inspired by the 1987 Brundtland Report, Our Common Future Chapter 1. A Threatened Future and specifically the following: “The Earth is one, but the world is not. We all depend on one biosphere for sustaining our lives. Yet each community, each country, strives for survival and prosperity with little regard for its impact on others.
Today, more than 30 Years after the 1st IPCC report was published and 30 Years after the first conference of parties (COP) was held in Berlin, Germany, the world stands at a crossroads. Greenhouse gases continue to increase, and so do the global average temperatures. The inequality gap has widened, negatively impacting the realization of the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Production of scientific knowledge is much faster than its utilization towards effective climate and long-term environmental change responses.
